Lectures on Lighting by Graeme Lister
Dr. Graeme Lister, Lighting Consultant, author of a review paper in Reviews of Modern Physics
Graeme Lister is currently a technical advisor to Ceravision Lighting in the UK. He is also a member of a number of Illuminating Engineering Society Committees, where he is an advisor on the use of electrodeless lighting for roadway, parking area and industrial applications.
Lecture 1: White Light Source Alternatives to LED
The lighting industry is currently paying more attention to alternative sources to LED, particularly for high power operation (Outdoor Lighting, High Bay factory etc.). This talk will cover three light sources where advances are being made: Ceramic Metal Halide, Induction Fluorescent Lighting and “Plasma” Lighting (Electrodeless HID). The technology of each of these lamps will be discussed, together with the advantages they present for the user.
Lecture 2: Outdoor Lighting
The current status of outdoor lighting for roadway, street and area lighting will be reviewed from an applications standpoint. This talk will describe the basic terminology, efficiency and environmental issues, lighting controls and adaptive lighting.
