Abstract:

Delays exist universally in engineering systems, such as manufacturing processes, networked control systems, tele-operation of robots, remote surgery, multi-robot systems, internal combustion engines, traffic dynamics, etc. Delays are ubiquitously observed in these systems due to the unavoidable time required to gather sensing data, to generate control decisions, and to execute these decisions. This talk will focus on the stability analysis and control synthesis of the aforementioned time-delay systems. The latest theoretical developments for such systems will be introduced from the frequency domain perspective. In addition, this talk will elaborate on various applications of the time-delay systems and conclude with future directions.
