Abstract: Antenna arrays are widely used in many military as well as civil applications. They are typically expensive to develop and the design cycles are long. Unfortunately, due to the vastly different personalities required for various applications, the technology developed for one project cannot be easily adapted to another one, causing a lot of waste in terms of time, effort, and money. To address this need, DARPA solicits for novel system architectures and components under the Arrays at Commercial Timescale (ACT) program in order to develop a common technology which is adaptable to different personalities of communication, radar, and electronic warfare (EW) systems. In this talk, a reconfigurable slot-ring antenna array will be presented. This antenna array can switch between S- and C- band operation states. In addition, it can provide full-band instantaneous bandwidth in each band. Both V- and H- polarization states are supported. Each band has its own feeding lines. Since the S- and C-band antenna arrays have a shared aperture, this antenna array can be scaled to a large array.
