Prof. JIANG Xunya
Biography
Xunya Jiang is a professor of the Department of Illuminating Engineering and Light Sources. He obtained his Ph.D. from Iowa State University in USA at Jan. 2001. His research directions are focused on photonics and design of new optical/photonic devices, e.g. photonic crystals, meta-materials, nonlinearities, random media, and their usage on LED and lasers. More than 65 papers are published on SCI journals, such as PRL, NJP, OL, OE, APL, PRB etc., and cited over 800 times. He has applied 10 invention patents (3 of them are granted). He had also written two paragraphs in the photonics books published by Springer(2001 and 2010). At 2011, invited by Intech (an international publisher) as the editor, he edited the book titled as Metamaterial(published at 2012). Because of outstanding research, his works are shown on US-DOE website by a long report, honored the Fox Research Award. He has presented the invited talks in international conferences, such as APS march-meeting. He was recommended by senior members as a reviewer of programs of Hong-Kong Research Grants Council and one director of Shanghai Physics Council.

(i) photonics (metamaterial, photonic crystal etc.) ;
(ii) design of LED/Laser by new photonic materials;
(iii) transformation and topological optics
(iv) nonlinear optics; (v)localization of waves in random media
