【创作背后的故事】

 

When I first saw the announcement for the design competition at Fudan University, I was immediately intrigued and decided to participate. I already had a few ideas brewing in my mind, sparked by the clever homophone "dan" (鸡蛋) for egg, which resonated with "Fudan" (复旦). It seemed like a perfect thematic element to include in my design. The competition guidelines stated that the design should embody the university's esteemed reputation and reflect its diverse international community. This made me think deeply about which symbols would best capture these elements. Initially, I was drawn to the idea of a dragon emerging from an egg—dragons being symbols of wisdom and strength in Chinese culture. However, considering the international perspective, I realized that the dragon might carry different connotations in other cultures, some of which might not be as positive . This realization led me on a quest for a universal symbol that would be widely recognized and accepted. After some research, I found the phoenix to be an ideal replacement. Known in many cultures as a mythical bird that rises from its ashes, the phoenix symbolizes rebirth, wisdom, and resilience—qualities that resonated with the spirit of Fudan. 

（当我第一次看到学校大赛的公告时，我就决定要参加这次设计比赛。我已经有了一些想法在我的脑海中酝酿，灵感来源于“蛋”与“旦”的同音，即与“复旦”的“旦”产生了共鸣。这是一个不错的主题元素，于是我把它融入我的设计中。比赛指南指出，设计应充分体现复旦大学的办学理念和来华留学生的精神风貌并反映其多元化的国际社会。这让我深入思考哪些符号能最好地捕捉这些元素。最初，我被龙从蛋里出来的想法所吸引——龙在中国文化中是智慧和力量的象征。然而，考虑到国际视角，我意识到龙在其他文化中可能具有不同的内涵，其中一些可能不那么积极。这种认识使我开始寻求一种被广泛认可和接受的通用符号。经过一番研究，我发现凤凰是一个理想的替代品。凤凰在许多文化中都是一种从灰烬中重生的神话鸟，它象征着重生、智慧和坚韧——这些品质与复旦的精神产生了共鸣。）

With the concept clear in my mind, I faced the challenge of integrating Fudan's identity into the design. I decided to use the university's iconic navy blue and combine it with the traditional vibrant reds and golden yellows of the phoenix. This combination aimed to illustrate how Fudan, much like a nurturing egg, supports and develops its students into global citizens who are wise, just, and benevolent. Despite my enthusiasm, as an engineering student with no background in traditional drawing, I was initially unsure about how to bring my vision to life visually. Yet, my research skills came to the rescue. I discovered that the competition did not restrict entries to hand-drawn submissions; digital and computer-generated designs were also acceptable. This was a relief and an exciting opportunity to explore new technologies. 

（有了清晰的概念，接下来的挑战就是如何将复旦的元素融入设计。我决定使用学校标志性的海军蓝，并将其与传统的充满活力的红色和金黄色的凤凰相结合。这种结合旨在说明复旦如何像一个培育蛋一样，支持和培养学生成为明智、公正和仁慈的世界公民。尽管我很热情，但作为一名没有传统绘画背景的工程专业学生，我最初不确定如何在视觉上将我的愿景变为现实。然而，我的研究技能拯救了我。我发现比赛并没有限制参赛作品必须是手绘的;数码和电脑生成的设计也是可以接受的。这对我来说是一种解脱，也是一个探索新技术的令人兴奋的机会。）

I began experimenting with various AI tools to visualize my design. I used multiple AI modeling platforms, adjusting and refining my prompts to align with my vision. Although it was challenging and time-consuming to get the AI models to produce the exact outcome I envisioned, I persisted. After numerous trials and hours of tweaking, I finally achieved a preliminary design using Bing AI that met my expectations. Encouraged by my progress, I submitted my design and awaited feedback. The journey didn't end there; following discussions with the International Students' Office, it became clear that further modifications were necessary to meet their specific requirements. I used Microsoft Designer and Photopea to make these adjustments, enhancing the design to fully align with the office's expectations. Furthermore, the latest state-of-the-art technology was used to 3D rendering the 2D model. This process was more than just a competition entry; it was a profound learning experience that stretched my abilities and introduced me to new technological tools. It was a testament to how a simple idea, inspired by a wordplay, could evolve into a meaningful symbol that bridges cultures and celebrates the rich diversity of Fudan University. 

（我开始尝试使用各种人工智能工具来可视化我的设计。我使用了多个AI建模平台，调整和完善了我的想法，以符合我的愿景。尽管让人工智能模型产生我设想的确切结果是具有挑战性和耗时的，但我坚持了下来。经过无数次的尝试和调整，我终于完成了一个符合我预期的初步设计。受到自己进步的鼓舞，我提交了我的设计并等待反馈。过程并没有到此结束，在与国际学生办公室讨论后，很明显需要进一步修改以满足大赛具体要求。我使用Microsoft Designer和Photopea进行了这些调整，使设计完全符合办公室的期望。此外，还采用了最先进的技术对2D模型进行3D渲染。这次创作的过程不仅仅是一次竞赛，更是一次深刻的学习经历，拓展了我的能力，并向我介绍了新的技术工具。这是一个由文字游戏启发的简单想法如何演变成一个有意义的符号的证明，它连接了文化，也诠释了复旦大学的丰富性和多样性。）
