Biography:

Dr David Hutson is a lecturer at the University of the West of Scotland and for the last ten years he has specialized in sensor design. His intellectual property and other design concepts have resulted in successful university spin out companies.

Prior to this appointment he worked in the industrial sector with leading manufacturers of data storage devices with responsibilities for the delivery of recording head components utilising thin film technologies. David worked on projects as a senior engineer/project manager and latterly as a senior manager of circa 25 staff with responsibilities for component design, manufacturing processes and new product development. 

During a brief return to academia in the 1990’s Dr Hutson was responsible for the successful development of an instrument used for medical research into degenerative disorders requiring real-time detection of neurological activity in the brain and spinal cord.
