The Center for Intelligent Medical Electronics (CIME), within the School of Information Science and Technology at Fudan University, was established in June 2012. Its purpose is to catalyze and foster integrated innovation in the bio-medical electronics field, across many interdisciplinary fields.  The center will enhance cooperation with foreign academics, hospitals and clinicians, industry collaborators, and overseas distinguished scholars.

Within five years, the CIME will obtain an international influence in the field, becoming a transfer platform that converts science and technology innovation into hi-tech production, leading to leading-edge bio-medical and information technology’s development.

There are currently 20 faculty members in the CIME: 5 are full-time professors, 6 are associate professors, one is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and another is a Thousand-Talents Young Professor. Currently, there are six major research fields:
(1) intelligent medical sensor technology
(2) intelligent medical electronic chips design
(3) intelligent medical signal processing
(4) intelligent medical electronics systems
(5) intelligent medical ultrasound systems
(6) intelligent medical optics systems

 

The center focuses mainly on the entire vertical system, starting from the sensor technology, electronic chips design, signal processing and finally the system implementation. With this complete platform, the CIME will be positioned to extend into other interdisciplinary fields, such as bio-medical material science and clinical applications. The center’s ultimate goal is to pursue world-leading breakthroughs in the medical electronics field, with potential for real-world clinical and industrial applications, thereby leading to improved human health.
