On November 3, 2011, Fudan University together with the Swedish Institute of Computer Science (SICS) and the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) cooperatively held a workshop on IoT Technologies at Zhangjiang Campus of Fudan University. The workshop targeted WSN researchers, research students (M.Sc., Ph.D.), and interested practitioners from industries. Around 70 people attended the event.

The workshop included traditional lectures in the morning and two hands-on labs in the afternoon. In the latter, attendees was able to experiment with real hardware. The objective of the workshop was to give attendees a jump-start at implementing IoT applications using resource-constrained devices. To that end, it covered topics from the hardware up to the application layer. At the end of the day, attendees were able to design, implement, and debug simple IoT applications. This was supposed to be a stepping-stone for their possible future work on the same topic.
