June 16th, 2011, three guests from Upper Hutt City Council and Wellington, New Zealand visited SIST. Prof. Jianyi-Zhu, Ran Liu attended the welcome meeting.

Upper Hutt City and Wellington are working to establish a New Zealand International Animation Institute for training and an associated hub for media and entertainment companies to undertake business from this region. This visit to Fudan is to look for collaborations, and provide local students internship and job opportunities in the future as well.
