Finnish Advisory Professor Hannu Tenhunen has been awarded the Shanghai Magnolia Silver Award 2014

As was announced early this September, 50 foreigners won this year’s Magnolia Silver Award, among which was our Finnish Advisory Professor Hannu Tenhunen, recommended by Fudan University.

 

Professor Tenhunen has been long engaged in promoting the scientific research cooperation between China and European countries such as Finland and Sweden and made indelible contributions to the development of Shanghai’s IC SOC design. He is one of the founders of the Sino-Swedish Campus of Fudan University and initiator and core member for many international cooperative programmes between China and Sweden (FDU-KTH IC and System Joint Education Programme in 2006/2013) and between China and Finland (FDU-UTU ICT Joint Education Programme in 2013). High-quality courses and advanced education methods brought in by Professor Tenhunen have greatly promoted the construction of subjects subordinate to Information Science and Technology especially Integrated Circuit and System in Fudan University. Professor Tenhunen has united Zhejiang University, INPG in France and KTH in Sweden to found Europe-China SOC Cooperation Centre to bring in excellent SOC courses from Europe systematically and contribute to the education of urgent needed talents for Chinese IC industry, which has been supported by EU. EU also supported the Europe-China cooperative programme “Cultivation of Multicultural International Innovative Electronic Engineers and Enterprise Leaders” headed by Prof. Tenhunen and undertaken by Fudan University and Zhejiang University, which has more than one hundred tech-innovative and administrative inter-disciplinary talents.


Among the 50 award-winners are entrepreneurs engaged in management as well as representatives from all areas who have promoted international cooperation on fields like scientific research, education, culture, and sports. They have not only great success in their own fields, but also social responsibilities to devote themselves to public welfare affairs and international cooperation of Shanghai. The laureates were recommended by units in Shanghai, reviewed by the Shanghai Joint Review Committee for Foreign Commending, approved by Foreign Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and conferred this award.


The Shanghai Magnolia Silver Award was set up by Shanghai Municipal Government and conferred to foreigners annually since 1989. This is the 25th and 959 foreigners have been awarded up to now.
