Biography

Guid Oei was born in the Netherlands in 1961. He studied at the medical school of Leiden University and graduated in 1986. He specialised in Obstetrics and Gynecology in several hospitals in The Hague, Leiden, and Gouda. In 1996 he received the Ph.D. degree from Leiden University. He subspecialised in perinatology at Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia. He is working as an Obstetrician Gynecologist at Máxima Medical Center and Professor of Fundamental Perinatology at the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands. He is head of the department of Perinatology. From 2005 until 2011 he was dean of the MMC Academy. He is founder of the Medical Simulation and Education Centre in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Guid Oei is founder and past president of the Dutch Society for Simulation in Healthcare. He is founder of the Foundation for Training for Life, an non-profit organisation for teamwork and simulation training in low resource countries. He is member of the board of Dutch Perinatal Registry. He is president of the Gynaecongres Foundation. Since 2014 Guid Oei is president of the Dutch Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (NVOG). He is (co)author of 300 scientific articles and book chapters of which many are published in international journals. Guid Oei is head of the Fundamental Perinatal Research group and supervisor of 20 Ph.D. students.
